Missing - Conversation Hearts from Necco

Oh NO! Sweethearts — the classic chalky little candies with messages for your special someone — won’t be on store shelves this Valentine’s Day.

Necco had been making the popular candies since 1886, but the New England-based company went out of business in July and the Ohio-based Spangler Candy Co. bought Necco in May.  Unfortunately they didn't have enough time to make them for Valentine's Day 2019 as it takes 11 months to make enough to meet the demand for the holiday.
But no worry!  Pfaff has the perfect solution and you can make them in time for your Valentine celebration with your embroidery machine, polyester stuffing and fleece!

For each candy heart pillow you will need the following supplies:
3/8 yd. of fleece
Matching thread
Polyester stuffing - about 5 oz.
Polyester or rayon embroidery thread
Bobbin fill thread ( I used white)
Inspira Whisper Web Mesh or Floriani No Show Mesh
Water Soluble topping
260 x 200mm hoop

*I have included the link for the directions and the embroidery files at the end of this post.

Print the pattern and follow the directions and check the box for 100%.  Measure the square- it should be 2" . Cut out the pattern pieces and tape them together.

Cut out 2 hearts and 1 gusset from the fleece.  Hoop No Show Mesh in the 260 x 200 mm hoop. Lay the hoop on your cutting mat and line up the vertical marks on the hoop.  Place one heart on the No Show Mesh approximately 1.5" from the top.lining up the notches with the vertical line.

Place the Water Soluble topping on the fleece and baste around the design.  Embroider the design.  Remove from hoop, tear out the basting stitches and the water soluble topping.  Cut the No Show Mesh close to the stitching on the back.

Switch your machine to Sewing mode and stitch the gusset together with a 3/8" seam.  Pin the gusset to the heart matching the notches and the center seam. I use one pin that is different to mark the seam for a reference point.

Stitch using a 3/8" seam.

Place the second heart onto the gusset edge and pin in place.  Leave a 5" opening to turn the pillow to the right side.

Turn the pillow to the right side, stuff and hand stitch the opening closed. Your conversation heart is finished!

Isn't this a cute project?.... speaking of cute... I made these pillows on my CS Pro II for my grandson in 2017. He did not seem to be as excited as I was!

You can find the directions to print out along with the patterns and embroidery designs on the Pfaff Canadian site here.

Why not give this project a try? - and yes, NO calories!
