The first step is to download the free design from Kimberbell here. We will be working with the Cupcake pillow project and there are two options. SEWING and EMBROIDERY. Select the one that best suits your needs- I will be working with both.
Once you reach the page, you will find a pop up to add your email. After you fill it out, it will automatically start the download. Create a new folder on your desktop or your Silhouette Cameo folder and save your designs there.
If you are doing a traditional appliqué and using your machine to satin stitch or use a buttonhole or E stitch, you will print out this sheet and draw the shapes onto the back or paper side of your Heat n Bond Lite. The designs are already reversed for you.
However, if you own a Silhouette Cameo, you can just trace the heart and cherry and use your machine to out the larger shapes.
The Silhouette Cameo comes with a free software program but to load the SVG files, you will need the Designer Edition.

I will be working with the Business Edition so you may find I have extra icons that you do not have.
The next step is to load your SVG designs onto your mat. The designs are already reversed and ready for embroidery appliqué. Remember you can use them if you do not own an embroidery machine. I have included a quick video to show you how to do this. I am using a trial version of Camtasia so you will see a watermark on the video. I hope it is not too distracting.
Here is a picture of my mat with the 5 cupcake designs. Tomorrow I will show you how to prep your fabric and arrange your mat to cut out your shapes.
I have broken down this lesson into small increments but I still consider this lesson to be a beginner lesson. Give it a try!
